YSU Nutrition Students Help Children with Cooking
The latest cooking classes taught by YSU Nutrition students to Alta Head Start kids were fun for one and all.
The first class focused on pancakes. The children were read the story “If You Feed a Pig a Pancake,” and then learned how to mix their own pancakes. Once cooked, the children decorated the pancake using fruit to make a piggy face. The children also had bubble milk, which was a huge hit!
The second cooking class allowed the children to make grilled cheese sandwiches, fruit and yogurt parfaits, and bubble milk! The kids were able to butter the bread and place the cheese on the bread. They individually prepared their own parfait by crushing graham crackers, cutting up fruit of their choice and mixing it with yogurt. Our Alta Head Start children and YSU students had a great time cooking together.
