Ereka Johnson

Health and Nutrition Manager

I recently started my new career with Alta Head Start/ Early Head Start in March 2023.  I decided to make the transition after 20 years with another community program that also serves low-income and/or at-risk families.  I have a Bachelor of Science in Food and Nutrition from Youngstown State University.  I am a Registered and Licensed Dietitian.  I have spent my career working with families and children in community nutrition, helping them get a healthy start.  My responsibilities as the Health and Nutrition Manager at Alta Head Start/Early Head Start involves overseeing the meals that our children are provided and adjust menus accordingly for any physician documented allergies or intolerances and religious preferences in compliance with the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and ODJFS.  In accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, my goal is for each child in our program to receive hearing, dental and vision screenings, monitor immunizations, lead levels, hemoglobin, well checks and physicals, providing referrals for follow up care and support families with any medical or nutritional needs.  My goal is for each child to have a healthy and happy start and establish healthy values they follow throughout their lives.
